As Jan says, we are still married so it could not have been too bad!
We experienced so much during our time on the boat; two drunks in a dinghy going over a log, a pair of swans with four babies, starfish hook retrieving a BBQ, a quick fishing trip on Dana's boat, there is so much to share but it keeping the Blog short and concise we are trying not to bore you!
The following is a map which outlines our cruising paths and corresponding locations where we spent some of time:
1. Friday 13th to Monday 16h June: we departed Brentwood Bay and were pleasantly surprised to meet up with Janice & Glenn on MV Whiteshell. They took the time to stop and wait for us near Deep Bay when they were returning from their cruise.

We had scheduled one night at Ganges Harbour on Saltspring Island but that quickly changed to three nights after finding the town a joy to explore; especially the Saturday Market with it's produce, crafts, food, and local flair, we also spent a lot of time at the Mouat's Store(s)!

We met friends Dana & Carmen who arrived on their 20' Trophy fishing machine and also some new people - Mike and Penny Baker from Cowichan Bay!

STARFISH HOOK
This is one of Jan's most favorite experience. Dana retrieved a sunk BBQ using his starfish hook. He located a suitable sized starfish, tied a length of rope around it's body and then lowered his retrieval device down into the water. Ensuring that the starfish was sitting on the BBQ and latched on, he successfully pulled up the BBQ. What a feat of engineering!
2. Monday 16th to Tuesday 17th: we took a short cruise to Galiano Island and tied up to a mooring buoy at Montaque Harbour Marine Park. Great hiking trails, nice broken shell beaches and a unique floating bakery was anchored in the harbour! The bakery is on a 1930's car ferry which has been converted to a live aboard home and bakery! Of course we bought one of almost everything!

3. Tuesday 17th to Wednesday 18th: we went north from Galiano Island to Clam Bay which is situated between Kuper and Thetis Island. We dropped anchor and spent a quiet afternoon with rain; once the weather cleared we dropped the dinghy and explored a channel between the two islands which led over to the west side of the islands. "The Cut" is only accessible at high tide by small craft, dinghy or kayaks.

4. Wednesday 18th to Thursday 19th: headed off to Pirates Cove on Decourcey Island just south of Nanaimo! This is a very picturesque cove and one of the most popular marine parks in the Gulf Islands. We met a very nice young family on their sailboat "Sylvie"; Ian, Molley and Jackie (4 year old daughter) are from Port Townsend! They were a wealth of information and had a lot of suggestions for places to visit as well as cruising tips for getting to Port Towsend (for our fall rendezvous). Lots of hiking, beach combing, dinghy rowing and exploring while the weather was excellent, including an awesome sunset.

5. Thursday 19th to Friday 20th: started heading south for a night on the dock at Telegraph Harbour Marina on Thetis Island - we needed a shower! This area was one of the recommendations from Ian; a very nice marina with an old fashion ice cream bar, within walking distance a small honor system store, a small coffee roasting operation and nice peaceful roads to walk on. There was a Beneteau Rendezvous scheduled for the weekend - lots of sailboats were on the dock... Also on the dock was SV Sylvie, they were provisioning from the "free" store and coffee shop and stopped in for ice cream.

This young girl had an accident and peed her pants, she had taken them off and asked Craig if he could carry her wet clothes; and take her back to her boat!
6. Friday 20th to Saturday 21st: off to Cowichan Bay to explore this eclectic little town and also to have supper with Mike and Penny Baker! We tied up at Pier 66 and heard "Hey Kozad" and would you believe that SV Sylvie was at the Gov't Docks! Once again we have bumped into the Sylvie and her crew!

We spent a great afternoon eating ice cream at the Udder Guys Ice Cream Bar, Pretzels from the local famous bakery, and stopping into shops and wandering the streets. We met up with Mike and Penny for a wonderful evening, which included a drive to Maple Bay and then a wonderful supper. All in all a great last evening to a wonderful week of cruising.

Home: Saturday 21st to Monday 23rd: we headed to Brentwood Bay on Saturday and spent the next two nights on board. We cleaned Kozad and picked up the odds and ends which we needed for the boat! Visited with Jim, Ian and Luke, took them out to the Fifth Street Bar and Grill in Victoria - well worth the time to drop in for a nice meal! We had a vicious wind storm on our last night but surprisingly were able to sleep with all the noise and bouncing around! Said our good byes and then headed off to Kelowna on Monday morning....
We were sad to leave Kozad but luckily we are back for two weeks in the middle of July.
