MV Kozad Specifications

Motor Vessel Kozad
1974 Willard 30 Voyager, Hull No. 74

SPECIFICATION SHEET
Welcome aboard this remarkable Bill Garden designed trawler!

Every aspect of this sturdy cruiser has been removed, repaired, refurbished or replaced during the course of a very extensive three year refit that was completed in 2003.   Additional upgrades have been completed on an ongoing basis by past and current owner(s).

History:
Hull # 74 is currently named “MV Kozad”

Formerly owned and known as:

2003 to 2007   Owner Harry Torno, Victoria, B.C.,     MV Quiet Waters II
2000 to 2003   Owner Jim Brown, San Diego, Ca.     MV Sindbad

Previous owners are unknown but this vessel was formerly named MV Hussey and MV Zydeco

It is known that Jim Brown undertook an extensive refurbishing and refit from 2000 to 2003.  Jim shared significant aspects of this project on the Willard Boat Owners Forum at  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WillardBoatOwners/

Searching the WBO achieves (Messages) by entering either Jim Brown or Sindbad in the search option will lead you to the numerous entries where Jim updated the group with the project’s progress.

Craig and Jan Tomash purchased MV Kozad in May of 2007 and have not spared money nor time in keeping this Willard in excellent condition.

The result of the 2000 to 2003, and 2006 to 2010 work has resulted in a virtually near new traditional trawler cruiser.  Kozad is admired on dock sides and anchorages wherever she goes and is routinely recognized as being a nearly new boat!

Classic Garden looks and a deceiving amount of live aboard space are her virtues!

Snug, comfortable, safe and economical (3/4 US Gallon per hour at 6.5 knots) the Willard 30 Voyager is truly a fine coastal cruising boat which is ideally set up for a couple to cruise/handle.
MV Kozad has been incredibly re-built and maintained.  She is essentially a next to new boat.

The owners stateroom is forward and down two steps and includes a large V-berth with molded storage bins under, 2 hanging lockers and a bureau with drawers. The head is to starboard. Four opening stainless steel port lights and one overhead hatch provide lots of light and ventilation.

The galley is on the port side of the pilothouse and features a propane stove with oven, stainless steel sinks with hot and cold pressure water, refrigerated icebox and lots of cutlery, dish, pan and pantry storage.
The helm area is to starboard and includes a large bench seat, full engine instrumentation, navigation aids and electrical panels. Outboard of the helm is the sliding door Pilot House Door giving good visibility, air and access to the forward deck.
Aft is the salon area with a large "L" shaped settee and table to port. The settee has considerable storage capacity under. To starboard are storage cabinets and drawers with an "L" shaped counter top. On the aft bulkhead are a Dickinson stainless steel diesel bulkhead heater and the door to the aft cockpit.
The aft cockpit has built-in seats with storage lockers under in a "U" shape at the transom. Remarkable accommodation and comfort in a small cruising trawler!

Funnel Stack serves as additional outboard motor fuel and propane locker as well as extra storage for shore power cords, mooring lines, etc.

Galley
The interior of the boat was completely refurbished. The headliner was removed and upgraded to a beige padded vinyl. Walls in the main and forward cabins were covered with a neutral-colored ribbed texture vinyl. The pilothouse was finished with laminate to match the laminate used on the counters.

In the galley new fixtures included a new 2-burner propane stove with oven; a new extra deep dual-basin sink was installed along with a Moen single control faucet and a pressure water system with new pump, expansion tank, water tank, hoses and stainless steel water heater.
Waste from the sink can be routed overboard or treated as grey water and routed to the holding tank.

New Perko light fixtures were installed throughout. Extra lights were installed in the main salon as well as a new fluorescent fixture above the sink and stove.

The galley counter was completely rebuilt with a new laminate counter top. In the aft salon the counter was extended to curve around the aft side of the helm seat. The counter was recovered with beige laminate to match the galley counter tops. Louvered doors, new shelves and extra teak drawers were also installed. Teak trim was refinished with clear satin polyurethane varnish.

The original carpet was removed and a teak and holly sole was installed throughout. All of the upholstery was replaced with new high density foam covered with designer fabrics.

The head compartment was completely refurbished. Upgrades include a new faucet with shower diverter, a new Jabsco electric "quiet flush" toilet with macerator that discharges into a new holding tank located under the cabin sole aft. The toilet is supplied with salt water by a new Jabsco electric pump and can be operated in manual or full automatic mode. A shower sump pump was installed to eliminate shower water in the bilge. Counter tops were replaced with laminate to match other counters.
